The Force Unleashed II Round-Up

Posted By Mike on May 30, 2010

Let's face it, it's kind of a slow Memorial Day weekend so let's do a little catching up with highly anticipated sequel to The Force Unleashed. While we've been reporting on the latest TFU II site updates, there is a lot of new information out there besides the new "Patient 1157" scene and mini games.

And so here are some cliff notes to bring you up to speed...

(SPOILER WARNING: While we left most of the juicy details to the source links, some of the info contained in the cliff notes could be considered SPOILERS)

- Release date: October 26, 2010

- Platforms: Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS, PC

-Game synopsis from the TFU II site info page:

"In the sequel, Starkiller returns with over-the-top Force powers and embarks on a journey to discover his own identity and to reunite with his one true love, Juno Eclipse. In Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II, Starkiller is once again the pawn of Darth Vader—but instead of training his protégée as a ruthless assassin, the dark lord is attempting to clone his former apprentice in an attempt to create the Ultimate Sith warrior. The chase is on – Starkiller is in pursuit of Juno and Darth Vader is hunting for Starkiller."

- The original TFU was set approximately a year and a half prior to A New Hope while the sequel is set approximately 1 year prior

- The Force Unleased II kicks off on Kamino as Starkiller is a clone this go 'round. Details of this can be read in the TFU II GamePro article which is now online.

- Dagobah and Cato Nemoidia will be featured (again, more details in GamePro)

- The TFU sequel may include less emenies to combat than its successor, while those whom you do come across will be more powerful with better coordinated attacks

- Expect more puzzles and a different all around pacing from the original

- New Force powers include: Force Grenade, Mind Trick, Force Fury

- Doesn't look like multiplayer will be just for specific consoles with TFU II

- TFU II will be compatible with PlayStation Move

- The Wii version will include a 4-player "Force showdown" mode

And as for TFU II tie-ins...

- Sean Williams is penning the official novelization which is currently listed for an October 5, 2010 hardcover release.

- Writer Hayden Blackman and artist Omar Francia will bring us the official TPB on October 6, 2010

- You can already pre-order your Prima Offical Game Guide

More info, screenshots, concept art and more can be found at the official site of The Force Unleashed II as well as at the TFU II Facebook page. The other source links below will provide expanded details on the points noted in the cliff notes. Otherwise, we'll be sure to keep you posted as we hear more. Cheers to hoping for lots of good info coming out of this year's E3!
