TFN Humor's Server Crashes - and Explodes Posted By Anthony on October 30, 2002
The death toll was catastrophic, and still not exact this evening, as the server running Theforce.net's Humor Section exploded after the 75th Caption Contest was posted this morning, authorities say.
Details are sketchy at the moment, but a press release given out moments ago shows the main culprit is believed to be the amount of "Pull my finger" jokes that attacked the server only moments after the captionless picture was posted.
"Yeah, we should have seen it coming," said TFN's Humor editor, Christopher Hanel. "I mean, look. To see that picture and NOT think of that would mean you were partially brain dead. Next time i'm sticking with laundromats."
IT technicians on the scene were able to activate a backup server in time, while filtering through the offending data in hopes of finding a fix for any future 'pull my finger' jokes that may come through the system.
