TCW Takes In Estimated $15.5 Million Posted By Mike on August 17, 2008
The Associated Press is reporting estimated ticket sales for the box office and it seems as if The Clone Wars gathered approximately $15.5 million in it's opening weekend. The film was bested by Tropic Thunder ($26 million) and the mega blockbuster, The Dark Knight ($16.8 million).
Incidentally, this weekend brought The Dark Knight grand total up to $471.5 million, thus passing the original Star Wars ($461 million) on the on the all-time domestic charts. The Dark Knight now ranks number 2 behind Titanic ($600.8 million). In taking into account inflation per the AP: '"The Dark Knight" still lags well behind both movies in actual tickets sold. "The Dark Knight" would need to gross about $900 million to match the number of admissions for "Titanic" and about $1.2 billion to equal "Star Wars."'
So the bottom line, go see The Clone Wars again, regardless of what non Star Wars fan critics say and lets get that total up a bit!
