"Star Wars: The Musical," a production adapted from the original SW story, will be running this weekend and next at the Jazz Central theater in Syracuse, NY. Syracuse.com has a review of the production, which it describes as "comedic, satiric, [and] often unabashedly honest."
However, what you can do, and what Panek and Witanowski and companies are able to do, is present a comedic, satiric, often unabashedly honest rendition that?s crazy and chaotic while still having the original characters, in a sense, caricaturing themselves, their mission, the movie, and by virtue of the story?s place in the collective consciousness, the audience, as well.
What the production lacks in scenery (it has none), it more than makes up for in numbers of people outfitted in crazy costumes. Everything from gold lame to holiday lights, and auto bike racks to a wide variety of sports pads, hardware items, and perhaps a couple of racks of adolescent ?bling? from a jewelry concession are employed in bedecking these space travelers. In fact, in most cases, the costumes act as set-ups for the inevitable craziness once words and actions are loosed upon the situations.
"Star Wars: The Musical" is a performance from Rarely Done Productions and The Wit's End Players. A performance schedule, as well as theater and ticket information, can be found in the review.
Rebelscum Breast Cancer Awareness Charity Patch Posted By Philip on November 25, 2014: Thanks to everybody that ordered patches. I sent a check for $1,600.00 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation on Monday. While it's not as much as I hoped for, it's still very much appreciated. They will remain for sale in the store for anybody that still wishes to purchase them. Details after the jump.
