Star Wars has a habit of bleeding into politics around election time and this season is certainly no disapointment. Visit io9.com to check out an ad promoting West Virginia Senate candidate Joe Manchin. Star Wars music and imagery are used in interesting ways in order to paint a grim picture of opponent John Raese.




And from the political system we move on to the legal system. The Dallas Morning News Crime Blog reports a short blurb on State District Judge Andy Chatham referring to the Jedi Mind Trick when asking the jurors to disregard a portion of the prosecution's closing argument in a capital murder trial.

Our friend Alexander sent over the following Star Wars reference from pop culture:

"I'm currently watching and loving a science show called Wonders of the Solar System hosted by Brian Cox from BBC 2. It's a great science series about our solar system. Anyway, in the 4th episode (of 5) titled 'Dead or Alive' at around 26:00, the host makes a fantastic Star Wars reference that speaks for itself. The host introduces a segment about gravity by saying: "It's a force that surrounds us, penetrates us and binds the galaxy together. That force is gravity."'
