Saga To Be In HD For All To See... Almost Posted By Jason on October 27, 2006
It was reported on a recent episode of The Force-Cast that the HD presentation of the Star Wars Saga was only for Comcast subscribers. This assumption was based on a recent press release from the cable provider posted over at Hyperspace on Star Wars.com.
However, Steve Sansweet was kind enough to point out our error. Here's what Steve had to say...
"This is a Cinemax deal. Any system that carries Cinemax HD will show Star Wars in HD. But please note the fine print on the Cinemax site: 'Catch all 6 Star Wars Episodes on Cinemax in HD HD Service not available in all areas. To receive HD features and benefits, an HD television (not provided), a subscription to Digital Cable, a converter, remote control, and other equipment may be required. A monthly HDTV equipment charge may apply.'
I think the confusion comes in the separate Cinemax on Demand part of the deal. Only Comcast's version of Cinemax on Demand will have the movies in HD."
So there you have it. If your Cable provider offers Cinemax in HD, and you have the right kind of equipment, you'll get to see the Star Wars Saga offered in the High Definition format. But, as Steve said, only Comcast subscribers will get the added bonus of having the HD versions of the films available on demand.
Thanks to our own Bothan spies, Jay and Dustin, for bringing us this information. And of course, thank you to Steve Sansweet for taking the time to clarify it for us.
Rebelscum Breast Cancer Awareness Charity Patch Posted By Philip on November 25, 2014: Thanks to everybody that ordered patches. I sent a check for $1,600.00 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation on Monday. While it's not as much as I hoped for, it's still very much appreciated. They will remain for sale in the store for anybody that still wishes to purchase them. Details after the jump.
