SPY REPORT: Jedi Book Worm

Posted By Joshua on November 30, 2000

J.F. Sebastian scores some prequel news in an interesting way and shared it with all of us here at TFN. Now we get to pass it along to you. Kind of a minor scene on the surface, but perhaps the character is digging for something deeper:

Spoilers! Highlight to read:

I've been a long, long time reader of your fantastic site and thought you might like to hear about a new scene in Episode II. It's not a rumor, and I'll tell you how I found this out if you promise not to share it.

The actor's name is Alethea McGrath and she is about 80 years old.

Recently I was told that McGrath had a part in Jurassic Park 3 which I showed great interest in. A short time later the connection was made that McGrath also had a role in Episode II, and here's the scoop.

She played a Jedi Librarian. I was told the scene involved Luke Skywalker, which obviously isn't right so it would have to be Anakin. Anakin comes into a area which is either a Jedi Library or the Jedi Archives and asks this lady for a book or scroll or something like that. She responds by telling him they don't have it.

I don't know what Anakin is looking for, maybe info on the Sith but that part is speculation. As for the rest of this it can be treated as fact, this scene was definately shot.

This is definitely the first word on her joining Jurassic Park, and you can catch up on all of the dinosaur news on MovieHeadlines.Net's JP3 section, as well as news about the new Spinosaurus dinosaur!

The Official Star Wars website states that the actress is a veteran of stage, television and film, Alethea McGrath has been selected to play a Jedi Academic in Episode II. There's also an picture of her here on the Official Site. Excellent info!

UPDATE

Marge chimed in with a piece of info that expands on something above. It contains possible spoilers, so avoid the space below if you don't want to read them:

I don't know if you recall but a while ago there was a quote from Althea McGrath in an article(I'd have to look up exactly which one) in which she mentions having a scene with Obi-Wan(being a Ewan fan-girl I remember it mainly because she was thrilled about the little kiss Ewan gave her when they finished filming their scene:-)), so it seems that both he and Anakin may have scenes with her.

This is the report Marge spoke of. And it's possible she has scenes with both, but the original source said "Luke Skywalker", so she could have meant either Anakin or Obi-Wan. And this report spoke of a library scene with Ewan and Alethea. Sounds a lot like the spy report.

If we get any clarification on this, we'll get it out to you!
