SPY REPORT: Have Faith Posted By Joshua on April 26, 2001
Overnight a few topics of discussions from insiders occurred in the forums and revealed a few new tidbits of dialogue from the new movie. Here they are with a bit of my (Josh) commentary, our insiders have promised we can post more details of this scene tonight but here's what has been said so far:
In one scene, Obi-Wan is expressing concern to MACE WINDU about Anakin's ability to discern serious situations since he is emotionally involved with Padme. Right before OBI-WAN gets into his starfighter and flys off, he also says these lines:
OBI-WAN He has a... an emotional connection with her. It has been there since he was a boy. Now he is confused... distracted.
MACE WINDU Why?
OBI-WAN Master, we should not been given this assignment. I'm afraid Anakin won't be able to protect the Senator.
MACE WINDU Obi-Wan, you must have faith that he will take the right path.
There is also a comment about YODA made by MACE WINDU at some point in the movie as well, talking about him being in seclusion as he searches for the dealings of the return of the Sith:
OBI-WAN climbs into the cockpit of his starfighter.
OBI-WAN Has Master Yoda gained any insight into whether or not this war will come about?
MACE WINDU Probing the Dark Side is a dangerous process. He could be in seclusion for days... May The Force Be With You.
Plenty of new details here. One is that you'll notice that OBI-WAN was given the responsibility of going to investigate the whole clone deal. Probably the leave Anakin and Padme alone for a while so they could be manipulated easier. The Council can feel the movement of the Sith, but miss the fact that right under their nose one of their own is beginning to turn.
Another interesting word choice here is the use of 'having faith,' a common religious term of total reliance on a superior power or system. It contrasts nicely with the concept of fatalists with the classic triology of 'destiny,' where you have no control of your future. A common expression in Christianity is that one is encouraged to 'have faith' in God that He will take care of you. It implies an action of trust that everything will all work out according to a bigger plan.
There's plenty more here, so enjoy the reading and remember to come back tonight for another dose!
Of course, a special thanks to Perfect Dark for these revelations!
