Qui Gon Jinn Contaminates the Philippines Posted By Britany on October 1, 2002
Enrique alerts us to a funny article from January of this year on the South East Asian Greenpeace website:
3 January 2002, Batangas, Philippines - Greenpeace Activists today occupied unloading equipment to prevent over 17,000 tonnes of genetically engineered soya from entering the South East Asian food supply. In an early morning raid four activists chained themselves to General Milling Corporation's facilities in Batangas - the largest soya factory in the Philippines. Greenpeace volunteers on inflatables then attached a large banner to the hull of the cargo ship Qui Gon Jinn which was waiting to unload its contaminated cargo from America. The banner read "USA - Stop Dumping GMOs in Asia".
Not really a job for a venerable Jedi, "Darth Sidious Contaminates the Philippines" would have been more appropriate. Thanks for the alert.
