Michael Giacchino: John Williams Should Score Episode VII

Posted By Eric on April 16, 2013

In the wake of the announcement that J.J. Abrams will direct Star Wars Episode VII, fans have been wondering who would compose the music for that film: veteran Star Wars composer John Williams or frequent J.J. Abrams collaborator Michael Giacchino? Well, it looks like Giacchino has stated his preference: he wants Williams to continue providing his iconic scores to the Star Wars films. Giacchino addressed the subject at a post-concert Q&A in Switzerland:
"He has been a great inspiration to me over the years," he continued. "He has been a great teacher to me and good friend and I would love nothing more than to hear more of his music from that universe."

"If it were up to me I would say 'John, you must do it.'"

Williams himself previously expressed interest in returning to Star Wars. He told a concert audience in February that "I need to make sure I?m still ready to go in a few years for what I hope would be continued work with George."
