We posted earlier today on a possible Episode II soundtrack clip that may have leaked out. Since then there's been plenty of additional fakes floating around, mostly centered around the Shadows of the Empire soundtrack and fan efforts. While we've been tracking this story, Lucasfilm has yet to take action or comment, leading us to believe this is a fake.
So here's your chance to listen to what many people thought was part of the soundtrack to Episode II. And if it does turn out to be legitimate, we'll be more than happy to
So now you've listened to it. Head over to this Jedicouncil poll and comments thread on it to voice your opinion if you think it is legit or not.
UPDATE Well, it would seem the track is not legitimate. In the Jedi Council Forums, several members have noted that part of the music appears to be repeated in reverse. Here's what Lt. Cmdr Thrawn said about it:
The winds at the beginning and the way they are staggered sounds VERY Williams-like... the use of high pitch bells especially at and just after 20 secs in sounds VERY Non-JW and also pretty fake. At 43 s (about) there is a note that goes up in scale, (sounds like it's a stringed instrument), the note change is VERY fake sounding. It's has a very synthesized sound. Also, at 1:03 it skips. Not necessarily making it fake, but strange. At 1:13 there are some very fake sounding note changes. (you know the sound in the Matrix that bullets make as they go by, that 'fffvvvp' sound?) Right after the unWilliams like high bells at 1:45, there are more gunshot notes. Almost as if that part is being played backwards. As someone else noted a long time ago.
And obi_wan_kanathan noted:
I played the first part of the song (between 0:27 and 0:43) than reversed the second part (between 0:43 and 0:57) and it sounds just like the first part.
Abbey_Rd_Monk did earlier say that they did a looping job on it, however a discovery Darth Calvin made regarding another piece of leaked music would prove that this was indeed a hoax:
Hey guys I was finally able to download the Coruscant Chase mp3 from Abbey_Rd_Monks site, and when I listened I knew it was familiar, not SOTE, but definitely something I've heard before. I had a gut feeling it was a clip taken from another John Williams score, Jurassic Park: The Lost World. The drums gave it away. I pulled out my Lost World CD and sure enough it is a clip from track 4, The Hunt. This proves that track is a certain fake which means the other is most likely one also, unless of course the Maestro has pulled a full-on James Horner, which I seriously doubt!
UPDATE: Darth Calvin posted this correction about the track that was taken from The Lost World soundtrack:
It's still a hoax and the cue is still from The Lost World, I just had the wrong track! Upon a more thorough listening, it is actually the last 2min 8sec of track 13, Visitor in San Diego. Sorry about that, tracks 4 and 13 use the same themes in a different arrangement.
FINAL UPDATE The first track is adapted from "Looking through your eyes" by Bryan White from the Quest for Camelot soundtrack. The second was indeed from The Lost World. The source has admitted to attempting to dupe everyone and for fun speculation. Maybe we'll hear something that is real soon.
Rebelscum Breast Cancer Awareness Charity Patch Posted By Philip on November 25, 2014: Thanks to everybody that ordered patches. I sent a check for $1,600.00 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation on Monday. While it's not as much as I hoped for, it's still very much appreciated. They will remain for sale in the store for anybody that still wishes to purchase them. Details after the jump.
