Lucasfilm Talks Star Wars Kid Posted By Scott on September 14, 2003
Variety adds their input to the very long line of articles on the Star Wars Kid:
Millions of webheads have downloaded the vid, and humorous versions customized with humiliating backdrops and sound effects have proliferated on the Net.
But Raza's parents are suing the parents of four of his classmates, who allegedly stole the video from a school locker and posted it on the Kazaa file-sharing network.
In the suit, Raza's parents seek C$225,000 ($164,000) in damages, alleging the humiliation caused by the vid has forced their son to drop out of school and seek psychiatric care.
But the beleaguered Star Wars Kid does have online sympathizers. One site, www.petitiononline.com/Ghyslain/petition.html, is petitioning Lucasfilm "to really do something for their fans" and include Raza in the currently lensing "Episode III."
Lucasfilm didn't seem eager to turn over casting to Web surfers.
Says spokesman John Singh, "Obviously there has been a tremendous show of support for Raza, with tens of thousands of fans rallying around him. ... Beyond that we have no further comment."

Rebelscum Breast Cancer Awareness Charity Patch Posted By Philip on November 25, 2014: Thanks to everybody that ordered patches. I sent a check for $1,600.00 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation on Monday. While it's not as much as I hoped for, it's still very much appreciated. They will remain for sale in the store for anybody that still wishes to purchase them. Details after the jump.
