Liam Neeson came out in support of a new peace initiative in Ireland today. The Belfast Telegraph reports:
HOLLYWOOD hunks Richard Gere and Liam Neeson today threw their backing behind a major Ulster peace initiative aimed at schoolchildren. And the world-famous movie stars are just two of a team of leading local and international figures who have got involved in a ground-breaking project aimed at focusing on peace and non-violence in the province.
Northern Ireland Nobel Peace laureates John Hume, David Trimble and Mairead Corrigan Maguire are behind the initiative, through the Peace People, which was unveiled at a launch in the Odyssey's W5 today. The New Release Project, unique to Northern Ireland, is in celebration of the United Nations-declared International Decade and involves a schools competition with winners taking part in a UN event in New York next year.
