The helping hand of the Star Wars community has been extended once again, as Fanboys star Kristen Bell has recently teamed up with the Great Lakes Garrison of the 501st Legion to raise money for two charity organizations.
"Actress Kristen Bell and the members of the Great Lakes Garrison are not heroes — they just portray them from time to time.
Yet, both recently collaborated to do something quite heroic: They raised $2,000 for two local charities.
Clarkston SCAMP, a nonprofit summer camp for people with disabilities, and CARE House, a counseling and advocacy center for neglected and abused children in Oakland County, both received $1,000 from a donation drive featuring trading cards of the Royal Oak native’s likeness.
The Great Lakes Garrison is the Michigan chapter of the 501st Legion, a worldwide “Star Wars” fan collective, where volunteers dress as characters from the franchise for various events, including birthdays and hospital visits."
Many thanks to everyone involved in this extremely noble and generous cause.
Rebelscum Breast Cancer Awareness Charity Patch Posted By Philip on November 25, 2014: Thanks to everybody that ordered patches. I sent a check for $1,600.00 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation on Monday. While it's not as much as I hoped for, it's still very much appreciated. They will remain for sale in the store for anybody that still wishes to purchase them. Details after the jump.
