Given the events of the Season 2 finale of The Clone Wars on Cartoon Network, Lucasfilm and Del Rey are proud to announce that best-selling author Karen Traviss (Republic Commando, Legacy of the Force) is returning to the Star Wars expanded universe with a three-part series focusing on Boba Fett and the clone troopers.
?I?m very excited to write Star Wars again,? said Traviss. ?The fans have been so kind to me and I?ve received loads of support from blogs and podcasts. I promise fans will not be disappointed with this series.?
Dave Filoni, supervising director of The Clone Wars, was equally optimistic. ?Karen is a very talented author and I?m glad she?s rejoining the Star Wars community. I think that after this season?s explosive finale, Star Wars fans will want even more Boba Fett. That?s what they?ll get with this book series.?
The three-book arc will feature established characters such as Boba Fett and Anakin Skywalker in addition to new characters from all walks of life. According to Lucas Licensing?s Sue Rostoni, fans will be treated to an array of new planets, cultures, and conflicts. ?There?s something in this series for everyone, from the noblest Jedi to the toughest Mandalorian.?
The first book in the series, Bounty Hunted, will be released in Fall 2010. The second book, tentatively titled Vector of Confusion, will hit shelves in the early part of 2011.
The Clone Wars Season Two continues to air through the end of April on Cartoon Network on cable networks across the United States. Del Rey has been publishing Star Wars novels for over 30 years, and is currently half-way through Fate of the Jedi, a 9-part multi-author series set 43 years after the events of the original Star Wars trilogy.
