Juvie Star Wars Book Updates & More

Posted By Mike on January 5, 2010

After giving providing us with quite a lot of information from Penguin's Winter catalog, our friend and regular book source Eddie of Starwarstimeline.com is back with more Star Wars book updates from Penguin.

Let's start by diving into the Penguin Young Readers Group: May - August 2010 catalog:

Page 222 provides our first look at the cover for Jason Fry's Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Bounty Hunter. Amazon lists the new series opener with a May 13, 2010 release date and the Penguin catalog offers the following description:

"Season 2 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars features The Rise of the Bounty Hunters. In this first 80-page, illustrated chapter book in an ongoing series, the origins of some of Clone Wars best-known villains are revealed in an exciting and epic adventure taken directly from episodes of the hit animated series."

Next up, Page 223 previews Star Wars: The Clone Wars: The Hunt For Grievous by Chris Cerasi. Amazon displays a release date of July 22, 2010. From the catalog:

"Everyone’s favorite villain, General Grievous, returns in this 48-page full-color reader based on Season Two of the hit animated series. This time, Grievous is on the run from Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi and a team of clone troopers. Will the general escape from the Jedi once again, or has he finally met his match?"

Last from the Penguin Young Readers catalog, and also on Page 223, we have Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Secret Missions #2: The Curse of the Black Hole Pirates. Like The Hunt for Grievous, Amazon lists a release date of July 22, 2010. Description below from the Penguin catalog:

"The adventures of young Jedi Nuru Kungurama and the newly formed Breakout Squad continue as they take an unexpected and very dangerous detour and find themselves overwhelmed by space pirates. This series is written by acclaimed writer Ryder Windham, who has authored over 50 Star Wars books."

Now we move on to the Penguin DK Spring 2010 Trade Catalog:

Star Wars Year by Year: A Visual Chronicle by Pablo Hidalgo, Gus Lopez, Dan Wallace and Ryder Windham gets a two-page spread on Pages 24 and 25 that previews the years 1983 and 1990. Amazon lists A Visual Chronicle with a July 10, 2010 release date and includes a product description. The description from the DK catalog is as follows:

"From the first release of Star Wars: A New Hope in 1977 to the 2009 second season of The Clone Wars, Star Wars: Year by Year: A Visual Chronicle is an unparalleled chronological journey through the making of the most epic science fiction series ever!

Featuring incredible illustrations and stills, the book chronologically details the history and development of the Star Wars movies, the events, press, logistics surrounding the making of each movie, and exclusive interviews with people who worked behind the scenes.

The year-by-year format not only covers the movies, TV series, comic books, video games and books but also movie posters, memorabilia, fan conventions, and more within the context of the real-world events that were unfolding at the same time.

Produced in collaboration with Lucasfilm and written by Star Wars experts, Star Wars: Year by Year: A Visual Chronicle delves deep into the Lucasfilm Archives and brings you the definitive look at the world of Star Wars.

This book is a must-have for Star Wars fans of all ages!"

Next up, Page 119 provides an X-Wing preview from Star Wars Blueprints: Rebel Edition by Ryder Windham, and illustrated by Chris Trevas and Chris Reiff. Amazon displays a release date of July 19, 2010 while the original SW.com announcement stated August of 2010. Catalog description below:

"Celebrate the 30th anniversary of the release of The Empire Strikes Back with detailed plans of the Rebel Alliance in Star Wars Blueprints: Rebel Edition! See how the super high-tech vehicles, weapons, armor, and droids of the Rebel Alliance are designed and built with five fantastic, single-sided, full-color poster-sized blueprints! Placed inside a 32-page book, the posters contain technical drawings, history, movie tidbits, and more. This book-poster combo is an absolute must-have for every Star Wars fan."

Last but certainly not least, the Penguin Global Summer 2010 Catalog provides details of a Temeura Morrison biography on Page 4 that's scheduled to come out from Penguin New Zealand on april 20, 2010. See below for the catalog description:

"Temuera Morrison: From Haka to Hollywood

Temuera Morrison
A strong, dramatic, and inspirational life story

From local television hearthrob, to violent bully, to Star Wars bounty hunter, one thing Temuera Morrison can’t be accused of is being typecast. With humble beginnings in rural New Zealand, Temuera’s early life gave him a strong sense of family, community, and culture. Following the death of his father in a car accident when Temuera was just 14 years old, he was taken under the wing of relatives who sparked his love of—and talent for—performing. It was the attention he received as the abusive Jake Heke in Once Were Warriors that brought him international acclaim, and ultimately propelled him to Hollywood. In this memoir, Temuera talks about the roles he has played, the famous people he has acted alongside (Pamela Anderson, Marlon Brando, Harrison Ford, Michael Jackson, George Lucas), the mistakes he’s made, and the lessons he’s learned along the way. Includes colour photos."
