Jets/Bengals Game: ESB Or TPM? Posted By TFN on January 7, 2010
In case you weren't aware, the NFL playoffs begin this weekend with the Wildcard Round of games. Obviously the game of the week pits my 9-7 NY Jets on Saturday afternoon against the 10-6 Cincinnati Bengals, the team of our own Dustin Roberts. What does this have to do with Star Wars you ask? Well an article posted over on MySanAntonio.com provides some basic analysis of the game and does so in terms that all Star Wars fans can easily relate to.
The relevant portion of the article is provided below:
JETS VS. BENGALS
Best Case: Star Wars: Episode V ? The Empire Strikes Back
Most die-hard Star Wars fans consider ?Empire? to be the best of the films.
If this follows suit, it's good news for the Bengals, who exploded like the Death Star in a drubbing by the Jets on Sunday.
Then again, if we know anything about Jets coach Rex Ryan, it's that he's good for bulletin-board sound bites.
So if anyone could fire off a ?Who's your daddy?? taunt after the Jets' lopsided win, it's Ryan. A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, that would translate to ?I am your father.?
Worst case: Star Wars: Episode I ? The Phantom Menace
How bad were the Bengals last week? Chad Ochocinco felt the need to apologize on Twitter. Plenty of Star Wars fans who waited 16 years following ?Return of the Jedi? wish they had gotten one from George Lucas.
(Doesn't ?Chad Ochocinco' kind of sound like a name Lucas could have used for one of the Jedi knights?)
All the film really did was set up the eventual turn of Darth Vader. No matter who wins this game, they'll likely end up little more than part of the back story in a Super Bowl run by the Colts or Chargers.
For the record, the Jets are getting 50-1 odds to win the Super Bowl. With the #1 rushing attack and #1 overall defense in the league this year, anything is possible (though I'm not punching my ticket to Miami for the big game just quite yet).
Sorry Dustin, but your "Who Dey?" cats are getting de-clawed this weekend!
Rebelscum Breast Cancer Awareness Charity Patch Posted By Philip on November 25, 2014: Thanks to everybody that ordered patches. I sent a check for $1,600.00 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation on Monday. While it's not as much as I hoped for, it's still very much appreciated. They will remain for sale in the store for anybody that still wishes to purchase them. Details after the jump.
