Jedi Assembly Honors "Weird Al" Posted By Carol on October 1, 2007
Parody king "Weird Al" Yankovic was honored this past weekend by The Jedi Assembly for his work promoting Jedi and "Star Wars" as a whole.
Yankovic, known for his songs "Yoda" (a parody on The Kinks tune "Lola") and "The Saga Begins" (from Don McLean's "American Pie"), incorporates Jedi costumes in his concerts during the above-mentioned songs.
Jedi Council Members of The Jedi Assembly planned for months as to how to to appropraitely show Yankovic their appreciation since TJA does not have Honorray Memberships as other clubs do.
This past Saturday, September 29, 2007, the deed was finally accomplished. Council member 'Schph Gochi' met Al in person and delivered to him items of our appreciation:
*The latest version of the official TJA T-shirt *TJA lanyard *Both versions of the official TJA patch *TJA pin * Special "limited edition" of the TJA brochure signed by most members of the Jedi Council
"I included a printed page that had the TJA logo on the top... our 'goofy' shot from Dragon*Con... and a note stating that he is our 'unofficial' mascot," Gochi said later.
"Weird Al" also has a link to The Jedi Assembly on his official web page.
