Jay Laga'aia on Aussie TV Posted By Scott on July 1, 2000
Jedi Chikara sent this report in:
Just thought you'd like to know that Jay Laga'aia appeared on an Australian variety show called 'The Russell Gilbert Show' in which he talked about appearing in Episode 2. He mentioned the fact that he was bound by the confidentiality clause but talked of meeting Ahmed Best, Natalie Portman, and, of particular note, Anthony Daniels who mentioned having just worn his full C-3P0 suit for the first time in 15 years and saying that "it just fit". Jay talked of how the whole set was covered in blue screens, sparking a few visual jokes, and talked of how he got the role. Lucas wrote in a role in the script that Robin Gurland consulted him about. Jay said that he'd be using an accent similar to the one he adopted in his role on Xena: Warrior Princess.

Just a quick note to inform you that Jay Laga'aia appeared on an Australian comedy show just minutes ago.
He chatted about his work on Episode 2, although obviously not revealing anything about plot or characters, saying that there was a strict confidentiality agreement.
He mentioned that he met Ahmed Best, and was in awe when an English fellow came up and introduced himself as Anthony Daniels! He also said that Daniels had just donned the golden suit for the first time in fifteen years or so.
When asked how he got the part, he said that he had auditioned for Robin Gurland previously and that she had come back to him and offered him a part after George Lucas had written it specifically for him!
Also, he said that he had been working on the prequel for the past week, therefore obviously being there from day one.
He then generally chatted about how he was excited to be part of the Starwars Saga, as he had been a fan since a kid...
Thanks for the reports! Now the question is who is he playing?

I sent a check for $1,600.00 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation on Monday. While it's not as much as I hoped for, it's still very much appreciated. They will remain for sale in the store for anybody that still wishes to purchase them. Details after the jump.
