How About A Couple Invasion #1 Reviews?

Posted By Mike on July 8, 2009

The Yuuzhan Vong are back and are still pretty ugly as is evident by this week's launch of Invasion #1. Did you get a chance to read it yet? Are you curious what people are saying before checking it out? Do you like to read reviews right after you've read something? Either way, we got you covered with a couple links to reviews of the first issue of the New Jedi Order era comic:

IGN gives Invasion #1 a 6.1 out of 10:

"I don't want to sound like I hated this issue, because I didn't. Taylor has a winning premise on his hands. For now though, the story just lacks the depth it needs to make good on that potential. I'm glad to have a more visual glimpse of this era of Star Wars for once, but it's going to take more than that for this project to stand out from the pack."

NJOE.com provides a positive SPOILER filled review:

"Nearly six years after the conclusion of the New Jedi Order with The Unifying Force, Dark Horse enters the fray with Star Wars Invasion. For me this issue was everything I wanted it to be. It introduced the main characters, it captured the intensity and fear of the Yuuzhan Vong, and it moved fast enough that it was over before you knew it."

UPDATE: Comic Book Resources shares their thoughts on Invasion #1 and give the initial offering 3.5 stars out of 5. Review excerpt below:

"Like a lot of Dark Horse’s Star Wars comics, this book does do a great job of establishing a galactically tense situation where our protagonists have been strewn across the galaxy. There’s a strange excitement to that sort of singularly Star Wars kind of setup and “Invasion’s” is a fine interpretation of the trope."
