![]() Fan Report From Sterling Heights Star Wars Day Posted By Eric on June 23, 2012 Friend of TFN and The ForceCast Marysa attended the Sterling Heights Public Library's annual Star Wars Day, and she writes in with her report. I was able to attend the 5th annual Star Wars Day at the Sterling Heights Public Library in Sterling Heights, MI, and I had a ton of fun. Judging by the reaction of the many kids in attendance, I wasn’t the only one. There were plenty of costumed members from the 501st Legion present and available for pictures, as well as answering questions about all the good work that they do. This was my first real Star Wars fan event, and I was really impressed. Inside the library, there were several activity stations, including a mask making station, two blaster shooting stations, and a booth about the 501st and the Great Lakes Garrison. The blaster shooting stations were the most popular, and the kids’ favorite target was the costumed stormtrooper. Kids received certificates for participating and had the opportunity to enter a raffle for either Dark Side or Rebel Alliance prizes. Without a doubt, the event was a success, and I heard more than one kid asking if they could go look for Star Wars books in the library. The sheer number of kids at this event was proof that Star Wars fandom and the passion for reading are alive and well, even amongst the younglings. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks Marysa!
