Solo reminds us of the 2002 SMPTE Seminar - Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones - A Case Study in Digital Cinema coming tomorrow in California. Here's the details:
Location: Digital Cinema Laboratory in Hollywood Time: 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Registration 8:00 a.m.
Episode II represents the first opportunity to understand end-to-end digital cinema on a major live-action motion picture. This year's SMPTE Seminar is designed to provide information and lessons learned directly from the pioneers who have braved the digital waters in this historic effort. A selection of clips, projected both in film and digital, will be screened throughout the day to highlight topics. We thank our Gold Sponsors, Boeing Digital Cinema and Texas Instruments DLP Cinema, and our Silver Sponsors, Avica Technology, Dolby Laboratories, and THX.
Star Wars: Episode II" Producer Rick McCallum will begin the event with a keynote detailing the vision and the issues associated with the choice to create a completely digital project. Then the key players who oversaw all aspects of production, post production, digital visual effects, sound and distribution will share their plans, and insights, using clips that illustrate the making of the motion picture including film, digital and comparative elements.
