A press release on the Official Star Wars Blog has confirmed the five Clone Wars tie-in novels expected from Del Rey, which we reported on in our Clone Wars book summary and previous stories. The first book is by Karen Traviss, and will be released on July 26th. It is titled Star Wars: The Clone Wars and it is expected to be the novelization of the movie. The press release describes these tie-in books as being based on the screen stories and characters, but stops short of calling them novelizations, suggesting more in-depth adaptations of the film and television series than we'd expected.

The second book is by Karen Miller, an Australian author, and will be released sometime in December--not November, as we previously reported. You can check out the press release here.

UPDATE: EUCantina.net (via ClubJade.net) is reporting that Karen Miller wrote on her LiveJournal the following:

"The Sekrit Projekt is a Star Wars novel. I’ll be doing 2. They’re both set in the Clone Wars era, and connected to the new animated series that’s coming out soon. It’s a 5-book series in total, and the super spectacular Karen Traviss will be writing the other 3. I’m so lucky to be working with her. It’s a bit of a cosmic trip, this, no pun intended. I think I’d be a lost cause if I didn’t have her to guide my tottering footsteps. Gotta tell you, I am having waaaaay too much fun."
