DK Canada - May The 4th Be With You 2012!

DK Canada have been in touch with some details about this year's May the 4th Be With You promotion, following a successful campaign in 2011.

Each year DK combines our love of all things Star Wars with our love of literacy in Canada (is there a better tool to encourage people � especially kids - to read than Star Wars books? ) .

Last year, with your help, we ran a very successful May the 4th Be With You promotion where we raised hundreds of dollars for Frontier College's literacy programs in Canada.

This year we are keen to make an even bigger impact and we are partnering up with Indigo and Chapters bookstores to bring our May the 4th be With You magic to a retail level so that Canadians around the country can participate.

A portion of the proceeds of all DK Star Wars books sold over this coming May 4th weekend ( May 4,5,6) at all Chapters and Indigo stores nationwide will be donated to Indigo's Love of Reading program (which has already raised over $10 million dollars for Canadian schools in need). The more books we sell, the more money goes to help put books in schools for kids to read.

UPDATE: We've received further details on DK Canada's May the 4th Be With You literacy initiative, as well as news of a photo contest.

As reported previously, for every DK Star Wars book sold at Chapters / Indigo stores on May 4-6, a donation will be made to the Indigo For the Love of Reading Foundation.

DK will be asking people to submit pictures of the Chapters / Indigo events and either post them on their Facebook page or Tweet them using the hashtag #DKmay4th � for each photo they get they will make a donation to the Love of Reading Foundation.

For the entire month of May, DK will be having a photo contest where they are inviting people to send in photos of themselves or loved ones reading DK Star Wars books. For each picture they receive, they will again make a donation to the Love of Reading Foundation. Info about the contest will be posted under "PHOTO CONTEST" at cn.dk.com/starwars. They will pick an Office Favourite photo and that person will win a DK Star Wars library worth $200 and DK will also donate a complete set of DK Star Wars Readers to the library of school of their choice.

Thanks to everybody that ordered patches. I sent a check for $1,600.00 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation on Monday. While it's not as much as I hoped for, it's still very much appreciated.
