CV Panel: Disney Collectibles Panel - LIVE Report

Posted By Curto on August 13, 2010

Curious about the latest news on the Disney-exclusive collectibles? Check out what was said at the panel in this special report.

Pablo Hildago is the presenter, and the panel is made up of Brad Schoeneberg (Product Developer), Cody Hampton (Product Developer), and Quynh Kimball (Graphic Designer) from Disney product development.

The Star Tours attraction kicked off the relationship between the two brands, and with Star Tours, Indiana Jones, and the newly-returned Captain Eo, there are several Lucasfilm brands featured at Disney parks.

The characters at Disney like to dress up as their favorite characters from that galaxy far, far away. This year's new characters include a Jedi Mickey and his trusty astromech droid R2-MK.

The slideshow (pictures coming soon) show that there were several different deco designs for the astromech droid before they decided on the current design.

Pablo interrupts the panel and R2-MK rolls out for a fun meet-and-greet. Life-sized R2-MK will be appearing a little later at the show and also at the Last Tour to Endor. He will also soon be starring on t-shirts and pins.

Now talking about the Star Tours Boarding Party set.

Limited Edition Stitch as Emperor Palpatine figure. Limited Edition figure from Star Wars Weekends 2010.

Celebration V exclusive is Donal Duck as Shadow Stormtrooper....a repaint of the basic figure, which was a standard Stormtrooper. The Shadow Donald is limited to 5000 pieces.

Pin Traders will be pleased to know there's a number of new pins, including the Star Tours Boarding Party, Mickey & R2-MK, Stitch as Emperor, and Luke "NNNoooo" pin...a C5 exclusive.

Also on sale at C5 is the TESB 7-pin set, recreating the posters from TESB, and the set includes an 8th pin, the lanyard, ad a C5 logo pin.

A Donald Duck as Boba Fett watch is also available as a lithograph set.

The other new C5 exclusive is the Starspeeder 1000 sneak preview vehicle. Limited to 10,000. The special edition ship previews a new droid voice that hints at a new pilot. This scale will not be repeated when the park reopens next year, so this will be the only time to get it.

Last Tour to Endor will be a C5 exclusive event at Disney's Hollywood Studios. There are a few exclusive (naturally) for the show.

NEW STUFF
------------------------

Many of the items shown are concepts and may change by the time they are released, and the team really has fun trying to come up with characters and content for collectibles.

New Disney as Star Wars mash-up characters include:

Series 5 (The Clone Wars theme):
Donald Duck as Clone Commander Cody (with hologram Stitch Emperor)
Goofy as Cad Bane
Stitch as General Grievous
Daisy Duck as Aurra Sing
Huey, Dewey and Louie as Jawas with parts of R5-D4

Disney princesses will not be dressed as Slave Girl Leia...don't hold your breath for those...

New Muppets:
Kermit as Luke Skywalker
Miss Piggy as Princess Leia
Link Hogthrob as Han Solo
Fozzie as Chewbacca
Sam the Eagle as Ben Kenobi
Gonzo as Darth Vader (with alternate head & chicken Stormtrooper)
Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker as R2-D2 and C-3PO

Prequel Figure set will be sold at stores in the parks

Disney Racers include:
Darth Vader case includes 15 racers including 4 exclusives

Dave Filoni Signature Series....cars designed by Dave himself. Characters to be announced.

Now moving on to Vinylmation figures. This fall will feature 12 figures from Star Wars.

INDIANA JONES

New 6" figure set Indiana Jones from Temple of Doom....loaded with accessories.

Mikey as Indy in a set with Goofy as Sallah and a Ark accessory.

Mickey as Indy bank with his cool artifacts.

STAR TOURS Sneak peek...
New R2-D2 and C-3PO figural bank.

Starspeeder 1000 1/64th diecast vehicle
Not the ONLY spaceliner in the galaxy....a 6-pack is planned.

Also....the Starspeeder 1000 will be a playset, in scale with the Hasbro action figures. After many years of requests, they are going to do it. Hopefully, will be ready by the time the attraction re-opens next year.

Limited edition posters recreating the classic trilogy posters...6 different ones, limited to only 200 each.
Posters may include a special green ticket for a very limited Boba Fett Racer.

Panel ends....Q&A begins.
Security rushes everyone out, gearing up for the next panel.

Check out the full gallery from the panel!
