CE: Official Celebration Europe Press Release

Posted By Mike on June 21, 2007

From Lucasfilm:

U.K. to Host Three Days of Star Wars™
Fun and Adventure at London’s CELEBRATION EUROPE

Commemorating 30th Anniversary of the STAR WARS Saga,
Weekend Festivities to Offer Celebrity Appearances, Previews of
Upcoming Entertainment, and Special Surprises for Fans of All Ages.

LONDON and SAN FRANCISCO (June 20, 2007) –The biggest Star Wars party in the galaxy is coming to London from 13th July for a weekend filled with entertainment, excitement and adventure.

When STAR WARS CELEBRATION EUROPE lands at London’s ExCeL Centre, fans from Europe and around the world will gather to mark the 30th anniversary of the epic adventure saga, which debuted in the U.S. on 25th May 1977 and opened at London’s Dominion Theatre on 26th December 1977.

To mark this milestone year, Lucasfilm Ltd. and Cards Inc. are preparing three days of Star Wars events the likes of which Europe has never seen. Planned activities include:
• Special previews of the future of Star Wars entertainment: The Force Unleashed, the groundbreaking videogame from LucasArts; and The Clone Wars, the long-awaited CG-animated television series from Lucasfilm Animation;
• Opening Ceremonies on Friday, 13th July, with a centerpiece outdoor screening of the movie that started it all – Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope;
• Presentation of comedian Charles Ross’s acclaimed One-Man Star Wars Trilogy stage show;
• The “Jedi Training Academy,” where young fans can visit a recreation of Dagobah and learn how to wield a lightsaber in true Jedi fashion;
• Appearances by favorite actors and personalities who have helped create the Star Wars Saga;
• More entertainment, presentations, events and soon-to-be-announced surprises – including some that won’t be revealed until they happen.

Following the remarkably successful STAR WARS CELEBRATION IV event in the U.S., held 23-28 May, STAR WARS CELEBRATION EUROPE is expected to draw tens of thousands of fans from around Europe and throughout the world.

“In many ways, London is one of the birthplaces of Star Wars, and scenes from the Saga have been shot throughout Europe,” said Steve Sansweet, Head of Fan Relations for Lucasfilm Ltd. “It’s great fun to return to London to celebrate the 30th anniversary.

“This is the first time we’ve ever brought an official Star Wars Celebration to Europe, and we’ve got an amazing three days in store for everyone who attends, whether they’re diehard Star Wars fans or they are looking for something fun and unique to do with the entire family.”

Hours of operation for STAR WARS CELEBRATION EUROPE are 10:00 to 18:00 on Friday and Saturday, 13th and 14th July, and from 10:00 to 17:00 on Sunday, 15th July. In addition, members of the Official Star Wars Fan Club will have an hour of exclusive access prior to opening, from 9:00 each morning.

Tickets to STAR WARS CELEBRATION EUROPE are ₤21 per adult for a one-day pass or ₤57 per adult for admission for the full three days. Children’s admission is ₤10.50 for a one-day pass and ₤28.50 for three days. Tickets can be purchased online at http://www.seetickets.com (simply enter “Star Wars” in the search bar on the home page) or in person at ExCeL Centre from 13th July.
