Blockbuster Poll Includes Star Wars Posted By Joshua on October 2, 2002
The PR Newswire talks about Star Wars in a Blockbuster movie research poll:
Julia Roberts' heroic Erin Brockovich and Meg Ryan's delightfully uptight Sally Albright may make for an entertaining dinner and movie -- but would you want to spend a whole week with them? That was one of the questions posed in a survey by Blockbuster asking customers to list the movies, movie characters and directors they'd most want to spend a week with. The survey was commissioned by Blockbuster to help announce that the company had officially extended its rental period for movies and games from five to nine days, without an increase in price.
-- Blockbuster fans will need a light-saber fight-off between Steve Stiffler (Seann Michael Scott) from "American Pie," Shrek (voiced by Mike Meyers) and Obi-Wan Kenobe from "Star Wars" for the next favorite.
-- In a league or galaxy all their own was Penny Marshall and George Lucas, followed by Martin Scorsese, M. Night Shyamalan, Spike Lee, Woody Allen, James Cameron and Ridley Scott rounding out the list.
"The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring" was cited by 15 percent of all respondents. (More than three times as many as chose "Spider-Man.") -- In a virtual tie for second place, the week-worthy movies included "The Godfather," "American Pie," "Star Wars" and "When Harry Met Sally."
