ARCLIGHT CINEMAS HOLLYWOOD TO HOST DARTH VADER

AND STORMTROOPERS

FOR STAR WARS: EPISODE III REVENGE OF THE SITH

OPENING CELEBRATION MAY 18


Live Lightsaber Shows Kick Off 24-Hour Screenings of Star Wars Franchise's Final Chapter

WHAT: George Lucas' STAR WARS: EPISODE III REVENGE OF THE SITH

ArcLight Cinemas hosts a Star Wars celebration beginning with a Stormtrooper-led procession through Hollywood and ending with a live hourly lightsaber show, prior to the premiere showing of the film for the general public in ArcLight Cinema's "Black Box" auditoriums and the historic Cinerama Dome (with presentations in state-of-the-art 2K resolution DLP CinemaTM projection).

WHO: Passionate Star Wars fans interact with the 501st Legion (a costumed group of 40 Stormtroopers and one Darth Vader) and witness the Jedi combat of the Master Replicas (two martial artist sword masters present a live lightsaber duel using glowing replica sabers and digital sounds taken directly from the films to depict the classic struggle between Sith and Jedi) all in advance of the first 24-hour general release screenings in Hollywood of this long anticipated film.

WHEN: Wednesday, May 18
  • 4:00 PM: Darth Vader and Stormtroopers of the 501st Legion congregate at ArcLight Cinemas and march in procession to Hollywood and Highland to escort Star Wars fans from liningup.net.
  • 5:00-7:00 PM: Procession of Star Wars fans make way through Hollywood to ArcLight Cinemas for Star Wars Celebration.
  • 7:30 PM: Gathering of Stormtroopers, Darth Vader and fans at ArcLight Cinemas for photos.
  • 8:00 PM: Lightsaber show by Master Replicas. (The show will begin once it is dark and will repeat on the hour until midnight screenings begin.)
  • 12:01 AM: Cinerama Dome screenings begin.
  • 12:05 AM: ArcLight Cinemas' "black box" auditorium screenings begin.
    *Running time: 2 hours 21 minutes


WHERE: Beginning and ending at ArcLight Cinemas Hollywood

6360 Sunset Boulevard (bet. Vine and Ivar)



East on Sunset to Vine St.

Left on Vine St. heading north

Left on Hollywood Blvd. heading west

Right on N Las Palmas Ave. heading north

Left on Franklin Ave. heading west

Left on Orange Dr. heading south to pick up the fans on the corner of Orange Dr. and Hollywood Blvd.

The march will return to the ArcLight using the same route.

VISUALS:
  • 501st Legion (Darth Vader and Stormtroopers) lining up in formation at ArcLight Cinemas to prepare marching Star Wars fans back for 24-hour screenings.
  • Stormtroopers leading procession of pedestrians on Hollywood Blvd. and down Vine. (The Stormtroopers will act as administrators of pedestrian law, abiding by street signals and safety codes.)
  • Live lightsaber show by Master Replicas (head-to-head rolling, diving, with glowing sabers spinning) in ArcLight Cinemas' courtyard, every hour on the hour until midnight show times begin.
  • Thousands of Star Wars fans attending one of the first sold-out screenings of this much anticipated film.
  • Exteriors of the historic Cinerama Dome on Sunset Blvd.
*Please note that television crews will have access to the exteriors of the theater only. No lobby or auditorium access.
