Jedi are a tough nut to crack, that?s for sure. They?re iconic to Star Wars. Everyone wants to be one. They are only special if they?re rare and powerful. Whoops, sort of a Catch-22 on that one. Our policy all along has been to say that they will be very very very rare, and not to explain how you become one. We aren?t trying to build an economic simulation. As much as possible, we are going for an actual in-game economy. These form in online games in general anyway, but we are trying to make it stronger and better. I don?t know what gives you the impression that we?re not putting much work into the economy?I?d say it?s occupied more time than combat.
Among the elements that we have: resources attached to every creature that can be extracted. Shifting resource pools on the terrain. Generation of fresh resources from templates. Ability to survey and mine resources. Crafting of resources into components. Experimentation and customization of items. Crafting of components into schematics. Factories that take components, resources, and schematics to mass produce items. A marketplace for item sales. Player shops for item sales and purchases. Item decay for ongoing repair and item turnover.
We did discuss a stock market at one point, and concluded that it wasn't very Star Warsy.
Kevin "Q-3PO" O'Hara had the following to say regarding the more technical side of things, in this thread.
Monthly fee I don?t expect this one to be answered until the game is about to ship. I?m not even sure if it is 100% nailed down yet. In game, player run [Customer Service] There will be a paid staff of customer service representatives (and no it won?t be at a premium charge, that rumor is false). As for unpaid player [Customer Service] staff, we?re still exploring the issue, but frankly there are legal issues involved in that one. This may become a FAQ when we have a clearer picture. Good suggestion. Number of players per server, and number of servers. Still being determined. Number of players per server will be a FAQ once we finalize it. Number of servers will depend on how many of you buy the game :)
Rebelscum Breast Cancer Awareness Charity Patch Posted By Philip on November 25, 2014: Thanks to everybody that ordered patches. I sent a check for $1,600.00 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation on Monday. While it's not as much as I hoped for, it's still very much appreciated. They will remain for sale in the store for anybody that still wishes to purchase them. Details after the jump.
