A Couple Reviews For Legacy #34

Posted By Mike on March 30, 2009

Got a couple of pretty positive reviews for the latest edition of Star Wars Legacy, #34. See the links and excerpts below...

From IGN (rating - 8.4 out of 10):

"At this point, Legacy's story is as strong as it's ever been. Unfortunately, the dialogue, never a strong point of Legacy to begin with, takes a bigger hit this month. A lot of the blame lies with the ridiculous alien slang Cade and friends throw around. This slang has always been a part of the series, but for whatever reason it seems much more pronounced lately. I would almost swear Cade borrowed a few choice words from Futurama's Amy Wong.

As always, it's nice to see Jan Duursema back in the artist's chair. The series just feels right in her hands. This is a particularly emotionally-driven issue, and Duursema captures that emotion well. She also renders a pretty cool Sith battle that helps break up all the crying and shouting.

Long-form projects like this are typically best when at their most chaotic and unpredictable. I have no idea where Legacy might be heading from here, and I couldn't be more excited at the prospect."

From ComicList (rating - 4 out of 5 geek goggles):

"This issue is terrific. There is only one small fight and the issue reads very quickly and with a couple of unexpected twists. This issue really helps to show the similarities between Cade and his ancestors as well as showing how they seem to fall into the same traps. The Sith also seemed to have not changed much. Despite all the preaching and all the plans they have it seems they all just crave power and that’s all they are about.

The artwork is tremendous. First of all, I was thrilled to see R2-D2 get more than a token panel and he looks great. The comic captures emotion so well. Whether its Cade in a craze over the prospect of losing Azlyn or the utter indifference Darth Wyyrlok shows when talking about the Sith, Krayt and the future.

This was a great issue and I think this title is heading in about as new a direction as it can. This is a tremendous series and I definitely recommend this to anyone. It’s not the same old Star Wars story to be sure."
