ANS Sci-Fi & Comic Con - Maryland Posted By Jay on April 16, 2012
If you're looking for a convention fix in the Mid-Atlantic States, be sure to visit the ANS Sci-Fi & Comic Con coming soon to the Washington DC/Baltimore Metro Area!
La Plata, MD--April 12, 2012
The ANS Sci-Fi & Comic Con is a new fan and collector event established to benefit Archbishop Neale School in La Plata, Maryland, the oldest and largest local Catholic elementary school serving 350 students. The event takes place on May 12, 2012, from 10am to 3pm at the school, located at 104 Port Tobacco Road, La Plata, Maryland.
“This is a brand-new opportunity to showcase collectibles and items that all ages can enjoy and to raise money for this wonderful school, which is celebrating the tenth anniversary of its’ rebuilding, and is an essential part of our community,” said event organizer and parent, Tom Boone, an avid collector who spearheaded the event.
The event will feature a range of interesting items for all ages, including vendors selling vintage and new comic books, trading cards, toys and other pop culture memorabilia. Local artists will be on hand demonstrating comic art and other media including sculpture and tile work. Viking re-enactors from the Longship Company and for Star Wars fans, members of the 501st Legion will be available for photos.
For those looking to showcase their artistic talent, there will be an art contest for children with prizes and a Silent Auction with collectibles including autographs and vintage toys to bid on. Food will be provided by T & J’s Bar-B-Q and Pizza Hotline and served under an outdoor tent.
“We invite the entire community to come out and enjoy great food, see interesting collectibles, meet our vendors and support ANS. We want everyone to come and make a fun day of it!” said Boone.
Tickets to the event are $5 for adults and no charge children under 10. Further, attendees can get one dollar off the admission price by bringing a gently used video game for Games For Soldiers, a non-profit charity that sends video games and gaming systems to United States soldiers serving overseas. Also, fans can get one dollar off admission for appearing in costume as their favorite hero (or villain.)
All proceeds from the admission costs and vendors fees will go directly to Archbishop Neale School.

Rebelscum Breast Cancer Awareness Charity Patch Posted By Philip on November 25, 2014: Thanks to everybody that ordered patches. I sent a check for $1,600.00 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation on Monday. While it's not as much as I hoped for, it's still very much appreciated. They will remain for sale in the store for anybody that still wishes to purchase them. Details after the jump.
