The latest addition to the Super 14 Rugby Competition, from Western Australia, has been officially called 'Western Force' at a press release today. While the name will no doubt bring out a few Star Wars quotes when the team takes to the field in a few months time for the new competition, 'Western Force' was actually chosen as it represents the natural elements that have shaped the state of Western Australia - the waves, the heat and the wind - and the minerals and resources that have underpinned its economic strength.

So go the Western Force! May the Forc... uh ... rugby be with you!
