Symphony Under The Stars: "Stars, Star Wars And Star Struck"

Posted By Mike on May 10, 2007

From OCALA.com:

"It's the Mothers' Day gift for the mother who already has everything - including a light saber.

And whether those glowing sabers of "Star Wars" are in the hands of mothers, fathers, children or evil galactic forces with capes, just don't forget to bring them Sunday to the 14th annual Symphony Under the Stars at the Ocala Municipal Golf Course on Silver Springs Boulevard.

This year's theme is "Stars, Star Wars and Star Struck" and will feature musical selections from the "Star Wars" movies, the "Star Trek" TV series and movies and other sounds of the heavens performed by Ocala's Central Florida Symphony Orchestra.

Light sabers, the Jedi's weapon of choice, are encouraged."

In the neighborhood, and have a very understanding wife or mother, then this could be an evening for you. You might want to bring a book for during the Star Trek songs.

More Symphony news comes to us from friend of TFN Donald L.

In his own words:

"On May 2 and 3, the London Symphony Orchestra conducted by Daniel Harding, performed at the Dewan Philharmonic in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia (http://www.malaysianphilharmonic.com/) in the final leg of their Asian Tour 2007. After the scheduled programme (Violin Concerto by Alban Berg and Symphonie Fantastique (Op.14) by Hector Berlioz), conductor Harding returned to the podium for an encore: he brought to the audience's attention that this year is the 30th Anniversary of 'Star Wars' and highlighted the six current members of the LSO who were part of the orchestra that recorded the score in 1977! A very welcome surprise addition to the evening's programme to get to hear the Main Titles performed by the LSO."

Thanks to Donald for the e-mail and glad to hear he had such a fun suprise end to what sounded like a nice eveing of great music.
