"Plastic is an inexact science," says Hasbro Design Manager Brian Parrish. "Humidity, temperature, the temperature of the mold itself will change how it responds. It's like cooking."

Parrish describes just one step in the long road to getting a new Star Wars figure on the shelves – a process that takes more than a year and involves hundreds of people on two continents, from designers and marketers to sculptors and factory workers. In the latest issue of Star Wars Insider, we visit the Hasbro headquarters in Rhode Island to find out exactly what it takes to get a Star Wars figure ready for action.

CLONE CHAT – ROB COLEMAN & DAVID ACORD


A veteran of the Star Wars prequels, respected Animation Director Rob Coleman was a natural choice when George Lucas needed an Animation Supervisor to work on his ambitious new TV show Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Although Coleman has now moved on from LucasFilm Animation, he found time before he left to talk to Insider about his groundbreaking work on the hit show. Plus, the show's Sound Designer David Acord speaks about his crucial contribution to The Clone Wars, explaining how each episode is approached as a mini-feature that gets the same 5.1 surround treatment.

A LONG TIME AGO…1984


In each issue of Star Wars Insider, we look back at one year in the glorious history of Star Wars.
