Katie's Story Continues With Geek Pride Day

Posted By Eric on December 10, 2010

After Katie Goldman's story attracted enormous attention, a Facebook event was set up to celebrate today, December 10th, as "Support Star Wars And Geek Pride For Katie" Day. The day is almost over, and judging from various blog posts and photos, participation was strong.

On the Her Universe Facebook page, Ashley Ecsktein posted photos of her two "Geek Pride" outfits from today, plus a third photo of her husband participating. Facebook users can check out more geek pride photos on the "Support Star Wars And Geek Pride For Katie" event page. Over at The Official Star Wars Blog, Bonnie Burton recapped Katie's story and shared several photos of fans wearing Star Wars clothing.

In addition to today's geek pride celebration, Katie's story has continued to spread across the Internet. Click here to read io9's take, cleverly titled, "You are not cool enough for Star Wars." CNN provided two-pronged coverage, with one story focusing on Katie's experience and another tackling the broader subject of geek girl power.

Lastly, be sure to check out today's new episode of The Weekly ForceCast, where Jason and Jimmy talked to Ashley Eckstein and Katie's mom Carrie Goldman about bullying, Star Wars, and geek pride.
