Christopher Lee in Gormenghast Posted By Joshua on June 26, 2001
JediMistressDragon sends us this:
I don't know if it's on all PBS TV stations (which I guess people will have to check their local listings for their PBS), but it will be on ours in Richmond, Virginia, but Gormenghast, which has Christopher Lee of Episode II in it as Flay, the Earl of Gormenghast's faithful retainer will be shown this week. It is being shown two nights here, June 27th (Wednesday) and June 28th (Thursday) at 9P.M.
Gormenghast: Since its publication at the end of World War II, Mervyn Peake's thrilling and romantic masterpiece, the Gormenghast trilogy, has stood unchallenged as one of English literature's most extraordinary flights of imagination. Its themes of treachery and decay, madness and honor, have come to be regarded as an allegory for the fall of empire and the passing of an age. Now, four years in the making, this literary landmark comes to the screen as a visual tour de force with an all-star cast, including Christopher Lee, Stephen Fry, Richard Griffiths, Zo? Wanamaker, Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, Celia Imrie, Neve Mcintosh, Fiona Shaw and Ian Richardson.
