Homemade Hollywood Examines Fan Films

Posted By Mike on July 7, 2009

Clive Young, author of Homemade Hollywood: Fans Behind The Camera, sent over the following news:

"I'm giving away the Hardware Wars chapter of my book on fan films, Homemade Hollywood, as a free download. People can get it as a .pdf file on my site, fancinematoday.com, and find out all kinds of good stuff on how the earliest Star War parody film was made.

Some of the cool stuff in the chapter:
• Why George Lucas calls it his favorite Star Wars parody of all-time!
• Why one of the filmmakers says Lucas is lying!
• How Oingo Boingo and Sesame Street influenced it!
• What happened when 20th Century Fox lawyers cornered the producer!
• How Francis Ford Coppola took the follow-up, Porklips Now! (Hint: Badly)
• And lots, lots more!

Michael Wiese, the producer of Hardware Wars, says it "is the most complete and accurate story of the short film parody of “Star Wars” which broke all box office records and spawned a whole generation of ‘fan films’ now common on YouTube. It’s a real hoot to read and even though Ernie Fosselius and I made the film, there are things that Clive writes about that we never knew!"

Folks can find it at http://www.fancinematoday.com."

Fan film fans can visit Amazon.com to order a copy of Homemade Hollywood: Fans Behind The Camera from Continuum Books today!

Thanks Clive!

UPDATE: Our friend Mitchell Hallock at TheRaider.net reviewed Homemade Hollywood: Fans Behind The Camera a couple months back and you can check it out right here!

Thanks Mitchell!
