a word from the director

[James and Robert Dastoli] A Word from James and Robert Dastoli
Directors of "THE VORZYD GAMBIT"

The Vorzyd Gambit is the 5th Star Wars fanfilm that we have made. Our other most recent one is How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Superlaser, which is featured on atomfilms.com. The previous three are (in order of completion) Crossing of Fate, The Imperial Center Infomercial Channel, and Respectable Employ, all of which can be downloaded (along with everything else we make) from our main site: www.dastolidigital.com.

Prior to starting this film, we had reached the point in which "we don't normally do Star Wars fanfilms anymore." We had been spending the longest time trying to accomplish all our goals dealing with original projects. But after the excitement of Attack of the Clones, something started to spark within us, and the concept of a Jedi and smuggler duo almost immediately popped into our heads.

For almost a year that concept became a hindrance, until we felt we had reached the point where we could allow ourselves to make another Star Wars fanfilm (though there was a special exception about a month earlier for How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Superlaser for the Atomfilms contest).

What attracted us to this project most was the effects that we would be able to do. Not having done anything else in original science fiction, The Vorzyd Gambit allowed us to (many times very painfully) hack our way through visuals that were millions of steps above gun flashes and CG helicopters that we had been doing before.
