a word from the director

[Jeremy West] A Word from Jeremy West
Director of "PRODITION"

I got into this Fan Film hobby about 2 years ago when I created Power of the Sith as a Christmas present for my parents. I never intended for that film to be an internet release, let alone be one of the films entered into the first annual LucasFilm contest. It was just created for the enjoyment of my family, so I didn’t exactly put forth my best effort as a film maker. It was cute and came out pretty well considering I had never done anything like that before, but I wasn’t satisfied with the effort I had put forth.

Well, once Power of the Sith was finished I was inspired to try my hand at something more ambitious. I took the time to write a proper script, draw up about 250 storyboards, create original costumes, props, and set pieces, and try to make the best film I could. I recruited a few very talented friends to help and after 18 months of continuous work, we came up with Prodition.

This film is a culmination of a lot of tips and techniques I learned while being a member of TheForce.net’s Fan Film Forum and is truly a film I am proud of. I love being able to place my own children inside the universe of the Star Wars saga and to share with them the process of creating a film from scratch.

Finishing the film was very difficult as I tried to balance creating a project of this size while still taking care of my wife, our 4 kids, and a full time job. I’m pleased with how it came out and even more thankful that I’m done and don’t have to spend any more late nights with After Effects. I hope you enjoy the film- we sure enjoyed making it.
