SPY REPORT: New Episode II Cast?

Posted By Scott on November 30, 2000

A spy checked in today with a listing of new cast members for Episode II. Unfortunately, we have not yet confirmed if the list is accurate or not. But here's what was listed!

Brian Blessed - Boss Nass
No big suprise here. Blessed himself has said he was returning for Episode II.

Alethea McGrath (highlight possible spoilers!) - Jedi Master Yaddle
The Official Site specifically has said that Alethea was playing "a Jedi academic". Who that academic was, and whether or not she was even human, was never stated. So she could possibly be the voice of Yaddle.

John Walton (highlight possible spoilers!) - Rebel Leader
John Walton is a veteran of the Australian show "Heartbreak High". Several confirmed cast members have been on this show including Rose Byrne, Leanna Walsman, and others. But what role does a Rebel Leader play in Episode 2?

Putu Winchester(highlight possible spoilers!) - Young Pilot
Putu is yet another veteran from Heartbreak High. There's plenty of room for pilots in a Star Wars movie.

Lewis Macleod - Sebulba
It is common knowledge that Macleod played Sebulba in Episode I, but this is the first hint he might return for Episode II. Will he really be there?

Catherine McCormack(highlight possible spoilers!) - Mon Mothma
Most fans have speculated that a young Mon Mothma would make an appearance in the prequels, but so far that has not been mentioned by LFL. McCormack is best known for her role in Braveheart as Mel Gibson's young wife who meets a rather tragic end. She's the right age for Mothma and even looks a bit like her in the photo linked to above. Could this British actress have been involved with filming that took place in the UK?

Lara Cox(highlight possible spoilers!) - Aurra Sing
Yet another Heartbreak High veteran. Lara Cox is young, blonde, and pretty just like Michonne Borriague who played Aurra Sing in Episode I. Is this her replacement? We know Aurra Sing was scheduled to appear in Episode II, but in what capacity remains to be seen.

Christopher Eccleston highlight possible spoilers!) - Republic Senator
UPDATE - Lots of people have chimed in with info about Christopher Ecceleston (the spelling we were given was slightly wrong), who has starred in moves like Gone in Sixty Seconds, Shallow Grave (with Ewan McGregor) and Elizabeth. You can see his IMDB listing here, and here's a fansite dedicated to him (thanks to Koreynl who pointed us to that, and to Jason, Laura, Joe, Fredrik, Richard, Yodafett, and FatBoyJayUk who all chimed in with info, and to Propp who gave us info and the picture).

Kimberley Davies(highlight possible spoilers!) - Mysterious Mercenary
She's young, blonde, and Australian. She's also an ex-cast member of the Australian soap, Neighbours. Lots of female mercenaries, eh?

Well, there you have it! Stick around and we'll see how many of these pan out.
