(sounds like George Lucas being interviewed)
... is only an example of things that cannot be avoided. But my
feelings on this, whatever it is, are rather moderate. I started
to worry a bit during the last few weeks. I had a draft that I was
starting to rework. At the same time, I worked with Jonathan to
get a third version. Then I combined all three. And the problem
was to finish all three before filming started. A lot of people
don't finish their script before they start filming. For the first
Star Wars, production started three weeks before the script was
done. For the others, I had more or less finished before. But it's
not uncommon to start a film without having finalised the script.
In all cases, I had everything that mattered, everyone knew more
or less what needed to be done and it didn't affect our work too
much.
Some people said that Anakin is lost because of his goodness, of
his qualities. Is that the correct way to see it?
I wouldn't say so. He's condemned because of weaknesses and problems
that all humans must confront. It's a vast subject.
