Remember BLUE HARVEST? It was a smoke screen for Return of the Jedi. Lucasfilm put out fake rumors and the like so that people would be surprised when they saw the film. We think that's a pretty good idea! We want to be surprised too! So remember that when reading this.

Most of these rumors come from Harry Knowles, the Corona Film Listings for Episode 1, Episode 2, Episode 3,and the RASSM Newsgroup.

Episode 1 - Genesis, Balance of the Force, The Clone Wars, Children of the Force, Crusaders of the Force, The Dark Years
The fake name to cover its production is Red Tails, though this may be changed soon.
Frank Darabont, the screenwriter, will most likely direct the second prequel. (Please nothe that Rick McCallum, the producer of the prequels, has denied that Frank Darabont is even working on the prequels)
For the third prequel, directors being considered are David Fincher (Alien 3, Seven), Irvin Kershner (ESB), and Francis Ford Copploa. The final decision will be made in 1998.
There is also a rumor going around that Steven Speilberg has offered to direct for free in order to get Dreamworks the rights to distribute the Trilogy
However, another rumor states that 20th Century Fox will definitely distribute the prequels and the last trilogy.
Harry Knowles is reporting that filming of the prequels will begin on Spetember 8, 1997.
3/28/97 - Harry also reported that George Lucas has scrapped 70% of his script for Episode 3.
The Emperor may not go by the name Palpatine in the first few films of the prequel. It may not be revealed which character is the Emperor till later in the films.
Ben Kenobi may be more adventurous and Han Solo like in the prequels
Boba Fett will be unmasked in the New Trilogy.
We will see R2-D2 and C3PO being constructed in the new trilogy.
The look of the ships in the New Trilogy is said to be more 'curvy' like that of the old Sci Fii serials of the 50's.
A character will be frozen in carbonite in the first trilogy and will reappear in the third. Uh, huh. Maybe it will be Michael Jackson in his hyperbaric chamber?
The first trilogy will have Mandalorian Warriors (like Boba Fett) who will be major characters in the prequels ( killing Jedi, fighting Kenobi, etc.)
IG-88 like assasin droids will be seen in the new trilogy.
Chewbacca may appear in the new films.
A young Han Solo might be seen in the new films.
This is where most of the speculation is taking place right now. We've listed all the acoors that have been rumored to have parts.

"And while on this subject, Kate Winslet, just winding up filming James Cameron's Titanic in Baja California, will be the star of the new Star Wars, a "prequel" to the current reissue. Kate will be signed by Lucas to play the leader of a "Rebel Alliance" fighting unit. Lucas will also be in London later this month interviewing and auditioning actors for the final line-up of potential stars for the new trilogy. The film starts shooting this summer in London. May the force be with them! "

Two new rumored cast being considered - Morgan Freeman and Kate Winslet. Not much else is known.
It is rumored that Russell Crowe is also in the running for a part, but which one is unknown. UPDATE - Harry Knowles is reporting that Russell Crowe is now out of the running for any parts./P>
NEW!!! EWAN McGREGOR - YOUNG OBI-WAN Various On-Line magazines have reported that Lucas has met with Ewan in England. Also, it is fact that Ewan went to the London Premiere of Star Wars Special Edition. Hmmmm!
NATALIE PORTMAN - Lady Skywalker or Lady Kenobi
BIJOU PHILLIPS - Note that Lucasfilm has vehemently denied this one.
NINA BROSH- Steve Sansweet also strongly denied this one.
Unconfirmed and speculative is the rumor that Eric Lloyd (Tim Allen's son in The Santa Clause) could be the front-runner for the Anakin role. The story goes that Lucas himself asked for a personal casting call from the young actor - however Lucasfilm remains tight-lipped about any casting operations.
Winona Ryder will play Mrs. Skywalker in the Prequels. This was reported in a German Magazine called TV Spielfilm. We think she's too well known.
Carol Channing (of Hello Dolly) will be in the new films as a Moffina--a female Grand Moff--and will sing an Imperial song. (This one's pretty sad.)
Lucas talked to Michael Jackson about appearing in the new films. (Obviously, started by some die-hard Trekkies who wish Michael would appear in a ST film)
For the last month or so, rumors have been flying around that the Millenium Falcon will appear in the new trilogy. Whether it is a cameo or a major role is not known, but it has been said that it will be piloted by a familiar character to us. Anyway, Harry got this pic of a 3-D storyboard from the prequel. As you can see, it appears to be the Falcon. Is this the real thing? We can't say for sure, but Harry says so and he's ocasionally right, for a t-sip. (Just Kidding Harry! :) ) Here's a note that Harry put on RASSM that addresses the origin of the pic. He says it came from a French Lucasfilm Mag. with a caption saying it was from the prequels:
"Thanks for your support on the page. If this had come from some anonymous source, that did not bother to identify themselves, I would not have even posted it. However, this did come from the Official Lucasfilm mag from France. Could it have been mislabeled. Well, sure. But the whole article is about Dan Madsen's tour of the facilities with Rick McCallum with the idea of the story. All my "inside" sources at Lucasfilm have stated that the Falcon will not be a big secret. That it will be used in publicity and so on. I don't know. I do know that the first Special Edition pics came from Germany/France and some came from this same Official mag. Then two months later they appeared in our Star Wars Insider. I can say this, this ain't a case of somebody slapping a couple of things together scanning it in to their computer and sending it to me. I have the pages this stuff was on. It was sent snail mail from France."

The last of the 3 trilogies (Episodes 7-9) are being considered for 2010.
Lucas is considering publishing the 'Journal of the Whills'. This essentially the mythology of the entire Star Wars Universe. It would be a mega-project involving many many authors and artists.
