NYCC08: Wizards Of The Coast

So, I'm at the Wizards of the Coast booth shooting the display of the Star Wars Miniatures, when I peer through the glass display and spot a familiar face...none other than Jan Duursema!

For those who may not know, Jan is a fantastic artist who is currently drawing the Star Wars: Legacy comic book series, and just so happens to have created many of the characters featured in the Legacy of the Force expansion set.

Now I've been a fan of Jan's work for many years now, and I've had the pleasure of talking to her at past conventions, but here she is taking her own pictures of the minis based on her creations for the Star Wars comic: Quinlan Vos, Cade Skywalker, Darth Krayt, Darth Talon, and Marasiah Fel....just to name a few.

Jan said she's thrilled to see her characters brought to life, and that she wants to get them all and bring them home. We chatted for a few minutes, and talked about the Kubert school (we both attended it, although at different times), her past comic work, and drawing Star Wars characters vs. comic book characters.

A nice surprise at the WOTC booth during NYCC.
