JediCon Sao Paulo Posted By Dustin on October 4, 2008
Fab?ola Chierice from the Sao Paulo Jedi Council sends the following heads up about an upcoming event.
"S?o Paulo Jedi Council was created in 1999 when a group of friends gathered to the movie Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, the first movie from prequel trilogy. Since then more Jedi Councils were created in other states and actually there are 09 (nove) over Brazil, about 16,000 fans.
The result of the union of these groups was a convention called JediCon. The first one had happened in 1999 and it was the first national event related to Star Wars in Brazil.
This year, the event will happen on October 11th, at APCD (Associa??o Paulista de Cirurgi?es Dentistas - Paulista Dentist Surgeons Association), placed at Voluntarios da Patria street, 457 (next to Tiet? subway station), from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. About 2,000 people are expected for this event.
We have many attractions, stands of other fan clubs, exhibitors, feeding area, lectures, videos, lightsaber duels, theater play, chat, costume contest and some invitees related to the subject.
Every year, we collect supplies to contribute to entities responsible by careless children, making our part to make someone's life better.
Last year we collected 475 kg of supplies and we expect to break this numbers this time.
The event is becoming better and better every year, with fans from many different ages, keeping alive our passion by Star Wars in Brazil.
This is the spirit of the event, where everybody can meet each other as if it was a meeting of very good friends sharing the same interest. Generations and generations together showing how much Star Wars is important to them.
We are a non-profitable group which the main goal is the entertainment, fun and interaction of our members through the universe created by George Lucas. That's why our quote is: From fans to fans."
