Albin Johnson, founder of the 501st Legion, is scheduled to appear as a "Fan Guest of Honor" at this year's ConCarolinas convention, which will be taking place this summer on June 4th-6th in Charlotte, NC.

"In 1997 Albin Johnson and his friend Tom Crews purchased stormtrooper armor for the re-release of the Star Wars trilogy. From their humble website "Detention Block 2551" came the mighty 501st Legion, a worldwide costuming club that now boasts 4700 members in 42 countries worldwide. The 501st, known as Vader`s Fist, appears in costumes of Star Wars villains as well as doing charity work for kids. The 501st has worked for Lucasfilm on many projects including appearing in the 2007 Rose Bowl Parade and been featured in books, video games, even in Revenge of the Sith. When Albin`s daughter, Katie, passed away in 2005 from brain cancer a pink droid named R2-KT was built in her honor and continues to promote awareness of pediatric cancer and its treatment. Albin currently serves as Legion Commander of the 501st as well as raising his four daughters and is an avid fan of RPG`s and miniatures."
