CCG Archive: Blizzard 1 and Commander Luke Skywalker Posted By Josh on February 20, 2004
The Hoth expansion introduced some serious Imperial hardware in the massive AT-AT Walkers. The Blizzard Walkers, combined with Walker Garrison and Trample, punished the Light Side on the ground. Evenso, the unique AT-ATs got new text Virtual Set #4 to better compete in an environment rife with high attrition immunity and forfeit values:
May add 2 pilots and 8 passengers. Immune to attrition < 4. When in battle, just after drawing battle destiny, may lose X cards from hand to add X to attrition against opponent.
The Commander Skywalker card was the first duplicate of a persona in the game, and ushered in the "persona replcaement" rule. Unfortunately, the rule was barely used because this version of Luke was barely used. The Hoth deployment restriction and lack of Light Side Hoth decks made this Luke and interesting card to have, but little more. Virtual Set #4 changed this perception with text that befit the Rogue Squadron's first official commander:
Adds 3 to power of anything he pilots. Deploys -2 on Rogue 1. When piloting Rogue 1, adds 2 to maneuver and draws two battle destiny if unable to otherwise. Once during each of your control phases, may take into hand any speeder or card with 'T-47' in its gametext.
