Our good friends at njoe.com report about a possible return of the cancelled Darth Plagueis book to the publishing schedule:
A listing for the book has cropped up on our book supplier?s database, giving the James Luceno-penned novel a February 28th, 2012 release date.
Does this mean that the book will definitely happen? No. But it is an entirely new listing that we can confirm first appeared today, that comes from a well-trusted source which is the same one that first informed us of Sean Williams? Old Republic novel, as well as his Force Unleashed sequel.
Maybe tying into this is Sue Rostoni's comment at the sw.com forums, about Imperial Commando book 2's cancellation:
We have something else in mind, though, something that I know many of you have been wanting for years. So hopefully you'll be happy with the change. As soon as I can, I'll give you more details.
And in a recent njoe.com interview with Tom Taylor, the Dark Horse comics-writer said the following when Kir Kanos (of Crimson Empire-fame) came up:
I?m a big fan of Crimson Empire, and I?m not just saying that because it was written by my bosses?although it would be a sensible thing to do It was fantastic work, and Kir Kanos is a character that I have a lot of time for. I?d love to bring him into Invasion, but I get the feeling that he may yet have his own story to appear in first?
Mysterious words... Whatever could Tom mean? Or are we reading too much into these words? You can join the TFN discussion about the subject here...
But remember what good ol' Randy said back in 2008:
After all these years, I have virtually no interest in continuing/finishing the story. On top of everything else, the approach I had wanted another writer to take has turned out to be impossible within established continuity.
UPDATE: Sue confirms the Darth Plagueis book at the sw.com forums:
Yes, apparently a database has leaked this upcoming hardcover that will follow Palpatine's rise to power and his Master, Plagueis. "Not Yet Published" should have read: "Not Yet Announced."
However, this is not the IC#2 replacement book, but something that we've been working toward for some time now. No, I don't have the manuscript yet.
